E's first birthday party!

This wasn't the picture I thought I would post today. I took pictures of a gift my coworker brought me back from St. Petersburg, Russia, but I just loved this picture. I will have to work on taking better pictures of the little gift later. Today, the flowers win, even though I just posted a similar picture over the weekend. The difference is that I took this picture near twilight and it was overcast. I didn't make any adjustments because I like it exactly how it is. If you compare the two, this one is SO much better.

I didn't want to take any pictures today. It's just one of those days. Then, I went outside with my camera and took a few I liked. This one makes me think of a fabulous story, involving fairies and magic and secret passageways. Not any one story in particular, just something that has yet to be written. This is my tree and quite possibly one of the oldest trees in my little village. If you google map my house, it's how you can find it easily - neighborhood houses and then TREE! :)

I have a problem using the focus button when I'm not wearing my contacts or glasses. I knew auto focus wasn't focusing on what I wanted, so I use manual focus. I forgot to put my glasses on before I went outside to shoot. Oops. :)

First picture I took and it was perfect. This is PumpkinSeed, one of my little girls. I took more, including a great one of my other little girl, Sebastian, but I'll have to take her picture again for this blog on a different day.

Rainy day, but the sun is out now. The neighbors left an umbrella on their side of our porch. I liked it, so I snapped a few pictures.

Day 6

Today was my last photography class. I noticed how the light was hitting the clouds during my drive home. Once I arrived home, I ran out to the field across the street and snapped this one.

Wow. I have noticed that I have trouble focusing if I'm not wearing contacts. This one worked.

Day Four

I took this at the Conservatory. I managed to end up with several shots I really liked, even though I wasn't feeling well. I chose the butterfly because I will have plenty of opportunities to make flowers my picture of the day.

Day Three

I love this picture. I also think I changed my mind about cropping, because I don't like the daylight coming in from the open door here. It's not the best exposure on her face, but I love her expression.

Day Two

I took this at rehearsal tonight. It is, by far, my favorite photograph I took tonight. There were a couple of others that I did like, but they didn't have the focus exactly where I wanted it or the lighting wasn't great. Some were dramatic, yes, but ultimately, Erik's picture won today.

Day One

Chevonne and I decided to do a 23 week photo project. That's one picture a day for 161 days. It is modeled along the lines of a 365 blog project, which are so popular. I figured I'd start a little smaller than that.

My goal is to take one acceptable picture everyday. There may be circumstances preventing me from posting daily, but that will not be the norm. Also, I may color correct, change to black & white or other digital modification. I do not plan on cropping any of my pictures.

I took 59 pictures to get one I liked. Actually, there were five I liked, but this one is the picture that won today.
